joint pain & stiffness

  Arthritis:
Many people have aches and pains that they presume to be arthritis related and that nothing can be done. The notion that
arthritis must be painful is a fallacy, and Platinum Physiotherapy can assist you with a simple exercise based management
  program that works.

  Patello Femoral Syndrome (or PFS):
Refers to a condition of the knee where there is a tracking or alignment problem of the patella where it glides in its groove on
the thigh-bone (femur). This can result in pain and clicking around the knee and may exacerbated during or after exercise, squatting,
kneeling or walking up or down steps. It is often caused from mechanical problems with the way we move (our 'biomechanics') due
to muscle tightness around the knee or a muscle imbalance.

Sometimes the biomechanical problem may not be in the knee itself but from other areas such as the hip or foot. For example a
flat foot posture will affect the alignment of the whole leg and can sometimes be a cause of PFS. Over time these improper
alignments of the hips, knees or feet can place excessive forces on the knee (and other joints) causing the surfaces to become
irritated and painful. Platinum Physiotherapy can thoroughly assess your knee and identify the specific cause and develop an
appropriate treatment program to eliminate the problem.

  Rotator Cuff Dysfunction:
The rotator cuff is a complex of muscles acting about and protecting the shoulder joints as stabilisers. (Similar to how your core
or "power house" supports your spine – see core stability section). Dysfunction of the Rotator cuff complex is a cause of many
shoulder injuries, and strengthening of the cuff is subsequently the key to shoulder rehabilitation. We can customize a program
based on your needs to do just this and eliminate your shoulder pain.
